The role of the Security Manager is to ensure the overall smooth running of the centre, including the
recruitment and training of all security staff, whilst maintaining at all times a safe and pleasant environment for
our customers.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of security and customer care provision.
• Compilation and distribution of duty rotas.
• Ensure Duty Shift Managers, and team leaders are performing their duties to the appropriate standard.
• Undertake recruitment and selection of new staff and be responsible for administering the Company’s
disciplinary procedures.
• Complete annual appraisals on all members of site security, and making all such records available for
examination.
• Mentor security officers on their appraisals and advise them on how to improve their performance where
required.
• Report any significant security incidents, to the Centre Manager, ensuring a full investigation has been
completed to establish all facts.
• Ensure close liaison with the local Police, CTSA and other local enforcing agents and encourage
communication amongst tenant security providers.
• Ensure staff attend company training days when required and carry out on site training for new
personnel, in particular CCTV and alarms control.
• Ensure all aspects of health and safety are followed, in particular those identified within the H&S
procedures manual.
• Ensure all aspects of staff management are followed, in particular those identified within the HR
Manager’s Handbook.
• Co-ordinate any unit/site evacuation.
• Co-ordinating events and attendance on site for all events.
• Undertaking on-site training for emergency procedures etc.
• In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, ensure that all officers hold a valid SIA Security
Licence and where necessary a Public Space Surveillance Licence.
• Ensure Info Exchange reports are closed off for all incidents
• Ensure the site Assignment Instructions are kept up to date and complied with
• Ensure a clear site roadmap is constantly updated
• Build an ASB roadmap for the site
• Maintain relationships with local schools/colleges etc
• Work as duty manager for the centre including late evenings and weekends
• Ensure rosters are in place for security and control room
• Ensure carpark signage is in place
• Ensure CCTV system is maintained and all cameras are in order and the contractor is managed as per
our agreement
• Ensure all radios are in working order and the contractor is managed as per our agreement
• Be vigilant to any changes in Security Legislation and guidance eg Martins Law, and advice the relevant
stakeholders as appropriate.
Essential
• Experience in the provision of security services at Managerial level, in a busy environment, visited by
members of the public.
• In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold a valid SIA Security Licence
and where necessary a Public Space Surveillance Licence.
• Effective people management skills & good team building skills.
• Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and deal with demanding situations.
• A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of legislative health & safety requirements.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent levels of customer service, at all times.
• Honest and reliable work ethic.
• Willingness to partake in on-site training for emergency procedures.
• Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to adopt a flexible approach to work patterns and work weekends/evenings as and when
required
• Willingness to undertake additional training and career development.
• Well presented.
• Accurate record keeping with good attention to detail.
Desirable
• Operational experience within a retailing environment.
• Ability to use full range of Microsoft applications inc. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Experience of direct liaison with Police, Fire and Government Enforcement office.
